The MOT gave advisories that all four lower suspension arms are corroded but not seriously weakened.. Our Mk2.5 failed 5 years back due to the rear wishbones perforated from the inside!They looked ok bar surface crud but actually were cheese. Bit of a surprise. I purchased refurbed ones for around 90 pounds delivered from AK Autos.

There are a lot of 2nd hand ones on ebay, my question is, will the 3.0l version fit a 2.7 version as there seems to be more of the 3litre ones available.

MOT advisory for "sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened". Currently looking at bidding on an auction for an E46 m3 but in the last MOT there is an advisory stating "sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened". I imagine this is down to interpretation of the person doing the MOT but it's obviously a bit of a sticking point.

Just had an MOT so 12 months there with no advisories. However in 2019 I see an advisory for Rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i)) which then is not mentioned in 2020 or 2021 which implies it may have been fixed. Although I saw a fair amount of possible rust under the car when I viewed it so maybe it hasn't been.

Although it passed, there are a list of corrosion issues that I need to consider now before things get to the desperate stage. Apparently it has been lanoguarded annually and treated with a course of NATO standard Neutrarust and painted with Buzzweld Chasis paint.

Hello, I had an advisory on my MOT "Rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened" is there a way I can repair this. I asked the guy at the garage and he said there isn't much you can do. I asked if you can put under seal on it and he said that would rot it quicker and that it will be good for 5 to 10 years then just buy a new car.

But wiith an undertray you get a layer of damp road silt sitting between subframe and tray, which gets soaked in salt solution in winter.
