A DPF delete should render the ECU to operate as if it has never had a DPF system. As such, a DPF delete is a process of deactivating, removing, or disabling the DPF and all associated programs in the tractor computer system. Without a DPF delete, a physical DPF removal is useless since the entire DPF system is a computer-controlled program.

A DPF delete, basically means to run the engine without having the diesel particulate filter installed. Therefore, the DPF must be removed and replaced with an exhaust pipe (downpipe) that does not have a filter installed. I posted a similar question in an old thread on DPF delete (off road only) and others replied that the urea is used to treat the output of the DPF specifically and that without a DPF the urea does nothing. At least that was my understanding of what they said. And for the record a DPF delete on a Passat DOES improve performance and power.
